Step-by-Step Instructions
Creating the Pumpkin
Work the pumpkin in the round without turning after each round. Continue in the same direction throughout.
Round 1: Using color A, create a magic circle or slip knot circle. Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet and will throughout the pattern). Work 9 double crochets into the circle. Slip stitch to the top of the chain 3 to join. You now have 10 double crochets total.
Round 2: Chain 3, then work a double crochet in the same stitch. From here on, work only in the back loops. Work 2 double crochets in the next stitch and in every stitch around. Slip stitch to the top of the chain 3 to join. You now have 20 double crochets total.
Round 3: Chain 2. Continue working in the back loops only. Work the following stitch sequence around: (single crochet, half double crochet), double crochet, (double crochet, half treble), treble, (treble, half treble), double crochet, 2 double crochets, half double crochet, (half double crochet, single crochet), single crochet, (single crochet, half double crochet), half double crochet, 2 double crochets, double crochet, (half treble, treble), treble, (half treble, double crochet), double crochet, (half double crochet, single crochet). Slip stitch to the top of the chain 2 to join.
Round 4: Chain 1. Work in the back loops only. Single crochet in the next 5 stitches. Then work [2 half double crochets, half double crochet, half double crochet] and repeat this bracketed section. Single crochet in the next 7 stitches. Repeat the bracketed section again. Single crochet in the next 5 stitches. Slip stitch to the chain 1 to finish.
Adding the Stem: Change to color B. Chain 8, then double crochet in the 5th chain from your hook. Double crochet in the next stitch, half double crochet, single crochet, then slip stitch onto the pumpkin to secure. Fasten off.
Creating the "Welcome" Letters

Letter W: Chain 23. Single crochet in the 4th chain from the hook, then single crochet in the next stitch, single crochet, single crochet, 3 single crochets, 3 single crochets, single crochet, single crochet, single crochet 3 together, single crochet, single crochet, 3 single crochets, 3 single crochets, then single crochet in the next five stitches. Fasten off.
Letter E (make 2): Chain 12. Letter C: Chain 18. Single crochet in the 4th chain from the hook. Work [2 single crochets, single crochet] and repeat this pattern 3 times, then single crochet in the last stitch. Fasten off.
Letter O: Chain 16, then slip stitch to the first chain to form a circle. Chain 2, single crochet in the same stitch, then work 2 single crochets in each chain stitch around. Slip stitch to the top of the chain 2 to join. Fasten off.
Letter M: Repeat the steps for the letter W, then place this letter upside down to form the letter M.
