Saguaro Cactus Applique

Yarn: Medium worsted weight size 4, acrylic yarn; green and pink
Hook: G/4.25mm
Gauge
Finished applique works up to be about 4.5 inches tall.
Abbreviations
Ch: chain
Slst: slip stitch
Sp: space
St: stitch
Sc: single crochet
Dc: double crochet
YO: yarn over
Sc3tog: single crochet 3 stitches together
Sc3tog = *Insert hook into stitch, YO and draw a loop through, repeat from * 2 more times, YO and draw through all 4 loops on the hook.
Start:
Ch 20, dc in 5th ch from hook, dc in each of next 6 sts, ch 7,
sc in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next, 3 sc in next, sc in next, ch 1, slst in next, slst into top of last dc made,
Dc in each of next 9 sts on the foundation ch. Fasten off.
Insert hook into 10th st from the bottom on the opposite side of the foundation ch,
Join yarn and ch 9, sc in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next, sc3tog, sc in next, ch 1, slst in last, slst to the foundation ch. Fasten off.
Flower
Using Pink yarn, make a magic circle/ slipknot circle, *ch 4, slst into circle, repeat from * 4 more times. Fasten off and tie onto cactus.
