This Bunny Applique is perfect for adding a special touch to your handmade gifts, baby blankets, and Easter decorations. Follow this step-by-step guide to create your own adorable bunny blanket applique.

What You'll Need
Yarn: Medium, worsted weight, size 4 acrylic yarn (Red Heart Super Saver Solids works great). You'll need beige and white for the bunny, pastel pink and purple for flowers, and jade green for leaves.
Crochet Hooks: Size I/5.5mm for the main applique and F/4.0mm for a smaller version.
Other Supplies: Yarn needle for sewing pieces together.
Abbreviations You'll Use
Slst = slip stitch | Ch = chain | Sc = single crochet | Hdc = half double crochet | Dc = double crochet
Special Stitch: Dc8tog (double crochet 8 together): *YO, insert hook into st, YO and draw through, YO and draw through 2 loops on hook, repeat from * 7 times, YO and draw through all 9 loops on hook.
Step 1: Crochet the Bunny Head
Work the head in the round without turning after each round.
Round 1: Make a magic circle or slipknot circle. Ch 3 (counts as a dc), 11 dc into circle, join with slst to top of ch 3. You'll have 12 dc total.
Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as a sc), 2 sc in next, *sc, 2 sc, repeat from * until end of round. Join to top of ch 2 with a slst. You'll have 18 sc total.
Add the Ears: Continue working, *ch 7, sc in 3rd ch from hook, sc, hdc, hdc, hdc, slst into same st. Repeat from * and fasten off.
Step 2: Create the Bunny Body
Round 1: Ch 7, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook (turn ch counts as a dc), dc in next, dc, 5 dc into last ch st. Working on the opposite side of the foundation ch, dc in next, dc, 2 dc in last, slst to top of turn ch to join. You'll have 14 dc total.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc) + dc in same st, 2 dc in next, 2 dc, dc, dc, 2 dc in each of next five sts, dc, dc, 2 dc, 2 dc, slst to top of ch 3 to join. You'll have 24 dc total.
Fasten off.
Step 3: Make and Attach the Tail
Using white yarn, ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc8tog into next ch st, dc in last. Fasten off. Sew the tail onto the bunny body using your yarn needle.
Step 4: Crochet the Flowers
Using pastel pink yarn, make a magic circle or slipknot circle. *(Ch 3, dc, ch 3, slst into the circle), repeat from * four more times. Fasten off. This creates a five-petal flower.
Step 5: Create the Leaves
Using jade green yarn, make a magic circle or slipknot circle. Ch 3, dc, hdc, hdc, sc, sc + ch 2 picot, sc, hdc, hdc, hdc, dc, all into circle, slst to top of ch 3 to join. Fasten off.
Step 6: Assemble Your Applique
Sew all the pieces together using your yarn needle. Attach the flowers and leaves to the bunny body to create your finished applique. The completed piece will measure approximately 7 inches high and 3 inches wide.
